Car companies have been testing this technology since 2004. At that time a self-driving car could not travel more than seven miles before stopping. This was a huge set back to the auto industry, as it is believed that self-driving cars will be the most helpful to those traveling long distances.

Self-driving cars are on the way. No ifs, buts or maybes, and the way we travel is going to be changed forever.   Self-driving cars will require laser-based sensing tech, and these systems will need new types of high-speed transistors and chips that can beat out silicon. This will only be overcome by autonomous or part-autonomous cars.

You never forget your first ride in a self-driving car.  In the future, All vehicles on the road would be driverless in such a scenario, with each car communicating to form an intelligent network.Tech giants such as Google and car manufacturers such as Audi, BMW and Volvo are successfully proving that technology, code and computers can be infinitely more perceptive and react quicker than any human behind the wheel.

Several traditional manufacturers are considering how cars might look and work in the future based on the rapid development of driverless technologies. While silicon has dominated computing to date, it turns out that the massive amount of information that needs to be detected and processed on the fly by self-driving cars is a perfect early application for GaN transistors.  Nominally, you can do autonomous driving without high-definition maps.

The car is being developed to work in all-weather conditions and most importantly focuses on the safety of passengers. On the road where self-driving cars have to take on unprecedented conditions like a crazy truck driver wagering into the wrong lane. self-driving car is equipped with all the latest technology equipment like digital display screens with gesture controls, eye-tracking system for the passengers and stat-of-the-art dashboard. The exteriors of the car are as futuristic as it can get with ambient blue LED lights and futuristic wheels.  But if you get into challenging situations like rainy or snowy conditions, or can't see the curbs or lane markings, it's almost like putting a blind person behind the wheel." Therein lies the rub. For self-driving cars to gain real market acceptance, they need to have "anytime, anywhere capability.

These cars could be safer and more reliable than humans simply by gathering and processing data in real time from a battery of sensors, like lidar, radar, and video. They would "see" the world, and react.
